WHO is Ecko Aleck?

Ecko is a fierce warrior for Indigenous rights, truth, and history while empowering and amplifying the voices of Indigenous Womxn and youth. Most importantly, she is a mother of two; working to break the intergenerational cycles of trauma by healing through connection to land, culture, and creativity.

Ecko is the Founder & Artist of Sacred Matriarch Creative - facilitator of sacred spaces, digital media & performance storyteller guided with ancestral knowledge. Her work scales from grassroots to global in support of Indigenous youth and womxn entrepreneurs.

There is a sacred unfolding happening in every area of her life. She is both witnessing and working within realms of deep reflection, nourishment, and guidance where every step leads to a deeper understanding and greater opportunity to shift systems.

Every step she takes is an impact statement to the next 7 generations. When she reaches the end of this life, her goal is to say to Creator, "I used everything you gave me in the journey towards healing, hope and a future for our children."

"We are the pivot of the planet. It's time to shake old systems and remember who we truly are as caretakers of the Earth, ourselves and each other."

WHO is Sami Bass?

Sami Bass continues to weave her work in the world while bridging the gap between ancestral knowledge and modern culture. Sami's work in intuitive, somatic and ceremonial modalities from her indigenous american and african roots inform her choices as an activist and artist, creating cultural change through empathy, compassion and healing.

Sami's work in the world is diverse yet tightly woven to bridge bold multidimensional impact that reaches from grassroots to global. Sami uses intuitive and ancestral teachings to reconnect lost communication between the body and spirit. Many times she will channel or observe what a person needs, and be able to find places in their bodies or behaviors where old traumas are manifesting, be it of this lifetime or epigenetic, and then find the route for healing those patterns and reconnecting the spirit to that space so people can begin to fulfill their truest self. Sami helps people connect to our original shared ancestor, the earth, through understanding their spiritual vibrations and how they coordinate with the fauna and nature around them.

Sami is also a film producer, writer, and sometimes actor who works for parity in the industry. Human rights are a huge part of healing, so there is a lot of crossover and practical application into the world of filmmaking.

Film is the modern "storytelling" which is one of our oldest and most cherished traditions as humans, and seeing it as such helps me to bridge the gap between worlds that can easily seem distant at times.

Why is this conversation important?

The wellness that we are being sold and the wellness that we need at this time are two different things. There is a framework being gifted to us by mother earth and an invitation to move through life tuned into our bodies in a new way...well, an old way actually. What might our experience of life be if we chose to embody wellness differently? Ecko and Sami offer us an experience of land-based healing and wellness.
