We have ten years to refurbish the 'House' of leaders we need to drive change and champion the solutions we are currently talking about.

I wake up feeling like a big count-down timer is ticking across my forehead.

At times, I literally feel the seconds counting down as they pulse around my temples.

Nearly two decades ago, I committed to PowHERhouse. Little did I know then just how badly our work would be needed now.
Day
Hour
Minute
Second
Then I watched this film narrated by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and illustrated by Molly Crabapple.

And I watched it again.  And again.

Suddenly the last two decades of my life make so much sense.

Within moments, I experienced a deep knowing that has always been there, yet only now ready to emerge to the surface.

If we have twelve years to change the trajectory our planet, then I'm going to say we really have no more than ten as it takes time to ensure certain pieces and policies are in place. I'd like to set up a buffer.

In order for Alexandria's vision to become a reality in the next decade, an evolved level of leadership is needed.
  • Without leaders in place who are READY to make the type of decisions - smart ones but not necessarily easy ones - we need to make over the next 10 years, this vision won't happen.
  • We need a higher level of leadership, and we need it FAST.
  • In fact, we need a process that prepares and advances high-impact leaders as fast or faster than we currently build-out world-class athletes. We need a clear, direct path.

 

THE LEADER PATH is a clear, direct, how-to path based on what we know, as straight-forward and obvious for leaders as an athlete's path to the NFL or NHL.

We are missing the leaders who are the innovators, how do they lead as ACTIVATORS? How do we create the leaders we need at the speed in which it needs to happen? We only have ten years. It's great we have all of these thought leaders, all of these theories and ideas... but who is going to lead them? How will they be acted upon for their fullest impact? Dare I say, enough with the 'ideas worth spreading' - been there, done that - and I'm a fan.

It's time for the next step:  ACTIVATION.
Leaders driving ideas worth doing that result in the solutions most needed at this time:  WORLD-CLASS IMPACT.
Now I understand why the time-counter counts down across my forehead most mornings.
It's counting down from Easter 2029 - 10 years.
It's palpable and drives my purpose daily - my very existence - to refurbish the House with a new level of leaders who act from a place of powHER, redefined.
Okay, back to the Path.

    If this isn’t a motivator, then I don’t know what is! The time IS NOW, and obviously, Charlene, you get the real, raw truth of how women’s leadership and gender equality can change the trajectory our globe is presently on! Role modelling and mentorship are invaluable and! Canada is lucky to have many strong female leaders. However we need to carry the message, know it is being heard, and accelerate the process! As a mother, I think about this (a lot), and do my part to bring about change. However, fellow women colleagues and friends, we need to speak the language, gather the courage network ~ and accelerate the process locally, nationally and globally. Our children’s future depends on it!

    Thank you, Charlene, for turning your lifework into the creation of the PowHERhouse vehicle. Spreading this important message via one-on-one conversations, the national events, media support system and development programs make this impactful work possible . Time is NOW and we are ready! I hope our network expands faster so we can be even more effective in creating change for the future generations (and ourselves)!
