Indigenous Story

Tina is of Irish and French Canadian, British descent with her ancestry from the Isle of Éire, and her family heritage from Chambly, Quebec, land of the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory.

Tina is a resident of Nexwlélexm which is the original and pre-colonization name of Bowen Island, located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Nexwlélexm is a small island located just outside of Vancouver in BC, Canada.

She is a proud, inspired and grateful mom to three tall trees of emerging young men: Connolly, Angus and Cedar.

Collecting, preserving, and performing the stories from which we come. These are the myths, origin stories, and Indigenous wisdom of Mother Earth, Father Sky, and us, their children and story stones.

A multi-disciplinary Artist, space holder and listener, Tina works with narrative and story structure as a vehicle for human connection. She is a listener who offers visceral storytelling for reconciliation experiences rooted in the principles of restorative justice. She asks her audiences to leave their plush velvet seats behind and instead, grab a seat at her fire and enter the circle of deep listening.

Tina’s recent art piece: OMYGOD is an unapologetic storytelling for reconciliation experience about the women we burned, the babies we buried and the Gods we worship.

Always off-the-cuff and spoken from her core, Tina has created pieces for film, the stage, as digital storytelling, and in her writing. Her work is rooted in myth, mysticism, and always with a spirit of PLAY. Watch for her upcoming book: STORY STONES due for release in 2022.

Core Story Goals

It took me until I was 44 years old with stage three tonsil cancer to figure out that I live in a body.

You see, I’m a story girl who likes to live by her own set of rules, often ignoring key plot points as if they’re just filler; but this experience shook me to my core, demanding that I stop trying to outrun the story that had been with me my entire life.

What I’ve learned is that you can never run faster than your story.  It will always catch up with you.

OMYGOD - The Invitation

Storyteller TinaO invites you on a mythic and poetic journey from Turtle Island (North America) to Eire (Ireland) on the eve of her 50th birthday as she follows a call of reconciliation…

TinaO's Story Stones

This is Story Stones, a book that describes how we are living stardust on twelve core narratives which guide each turning point of our life. We are part of creation. We are a living narrative, a descendant of one of the many creation stories that come together at the core. We are a star which becomes stardust. We are a super-nova in the making. This is the Stone Circle of which we belong.

Not all of us come into the world with an innate desire to lead, but those who do have been entrusted with the next step on their ancestral journey to contribute to others. Most of us think of ‘story’ as something we’ve made up, but that’s not how I see it. To me, each of us come into the world as a story stone, with the footsteps of our lineage tucked inside. Our invitation is to listen so as to lead and to live into the myth we are made for. It sounds flowery, but it’s not. Be who you are, lead what you’re made as, and give what has been entrusted to you.
