Sunshine Coaster PowHERhouse Dianne Whelan Announces Her Upcoming 500-Day Trans Canada Trail Trek | Inspire Me

(Gibsons, BC) – Dianne Whelan was one of the inspiring authors featured at last summer’s Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts.  Dianne shared the story of her adventure, emotion and immersion into the challenging and captivating world of base camp at Mt. Everest.  Her film, 40 Days at Base Camp, and book by the same name, is an intriguing and intimate portrayal of her April 2010 journey, the challenges, lessons and demons, and the three climbing teams she filmed as they summited from base to peak.

Dianne is a shining example of the astoundingly creative women who call the Sunshine Coast their home.  She is a motivator and positive catalyst for all who hear her speak, and PowHERhouse Performance Strategies is pleased to provide another opportunity to hear Dianne in March 2015 at a unique women’s mixer and film screening of 40 Days at Base Camp.

Dianne is at it again!  On June 21st, 2015 she will be leaving on her next adventure – a 500-day, 24,000 km Coast-to-Coast journey starting in St. John’s, Newfoundland. “I’m trying to be the first woman in history to do the entire Trans Canada Trail,” comments Whelan. The TCT is the world’s longest network of recreational trails.  When fully connected, it will stretch 23,000 km from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic oceans.  At this time, the trail is approximately 75% complete with a goal of total completion by Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017.

Ensure you are part of our March 2015 event as we wish Dianne well, and send her off in fine PowHERhouse fashion!

This winter an event-planning committee will be established.  Volunteers, sponsors and community groups wishing to collaborate are also most welcome.
