The Recipe

(1 Serving)

Ingredients:

  • 1 large grapefruit, peeled
  • 1 medium beet, peeled
  • 1-2 tsp ginger root, grated
  • ¼ C water

Instructions:

You have a few options depending on what equipment you have. You can blend and then strain all or part of the pulp with a regular blender (chop more finely) or a high-power blender like a Vitamix or Blendtech, which is what I use. You can also use a juicer to create a pulp-free elixir. I personally like to strain out half of the pulp through a nut milk bag for what I consider to be the perfect texture.

How It Works:

Janna Kensington Market with SageLiver detoxification is a biological process which occurs in three phases and certain foods and herbs can enhance the functionality of one or more of these detoxification phases. All three ingredients in the Ruby Red Liver Detox juice recipe have been shown to support liver detoxification by activating the liver’s native enzymes, glutathione and superoxide dismutase, which are crucial for liver detoxification from harmful substances such as excess hormones, drugs, environmental chemicals and food additives. The Ruby Red elixir also supports liver detoxification by encouraging the smooth flow of bile from the gall bladder, which is the medium that carries neutralized toxins out to the digestive tract for elimination.

Besides enhancing the liver detoxification process, the Ruby Red Liver Detox juice has natural cholesterol lowering potential, will protect the liver from stress-related damage and aid in the prevention of atherosclerosis and fatty liver disease.  It is also rich in cancer-fighting antioxidants and natural anti-inflammatory compounds.
