High-performing women understand the need to take an extended period of time for ourselves at least once a year to recharge, refocus and replenish. We understand the value of unplugging from everyday busyness to plug into what we most need ~ self-care, rest, wellness, exercise and an opportunity to detox from anything that feels heavy in our bodies and our lives.
Walking into the lobby, I knew we were in for a special morning.
Extreme quality and welcoming without feeling over-the-top.
Rene Aguado, Sales and Marketing Director for the Grand Residences greeted us upon arrival. Rene has vast experience as a hotelier. It was so interesting to hear his stories of business and life in the various countries he has called home.
We were treated to brunch at one of the Resort’s restaurants. It was hard to choose from all of the impressive menu options.
The food was absolutely amazing, the service impeccable, but honestly the highlight for me was the quality conversation with Rene and Executive Chef, Yann Michel Cozic.
Yann is a Paris-trained French Chef who is sincerely as lovely as the food he serves. As you can tell from my smile, I enjoyed every second.
One feature of the Resort that we enjoyed learning about is their eco-project to grow and transplant mangroves. A building requirement was to ensure that any trees uprooted or moved during construction were inventoried, tagged and accounted for so each and every one would be replaced on the property.
You can see this excited process in the photos below as well as what it will look like when the mangroves grow to create a lush courtyard. It’s going to be very special.
You know I’m a sun-worshipper, so of course I had to check out the pools as well as the beach. Many of the suites have their own dipping pools as well as three large pools in the centre of the Resort: adults-only, a kids’ pool and a family pool.
There is also a fully staffed activity centre for teens and a kids’ club that has attentive, brilliant programming. Quite impressive.
The Resort has a fair stretch of its own private beach front. It’s well-maintained, and like any Puerto Morelos beach, it’s damn beautiful!
I’d have to say, one of my favourite parts of the site tour was the suites themselves. I don’t believe that I have ever seen such care and craftsmanship dedicated to a hotel or resort suite. It was fun to check out all of the features, amazing amenities and attention to detail that is hard to imagine.
I found it interesting to learn is that the Grand Residences is not an all-inclusive resort.
Rene said it is a role they can play if it is requested but in fact they leave that choice up to their guests. I actually prefer to stay in resorts and villas that are not all-inclusive, especially on women’s wellness retreats, so I welcomed this news.
Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen, and Chef Yann will even come to your suite to cook in-suite meals for you if requested. I kept thinking how much we’d enjoy having some healthy cooking classes on a retreat!
Finally we toured the fitness facility and treatment rooms. Ah, home sweet home! The gym is well-equipped and a perfect fit for a women’s health and wellness retreat with a fitness and detox focus. Yoga can also be easily arranged poolside, on the beach or in a meeting room. Perfect!
Before we knew it, it was time to leave. Our glimpse of the Grand Residences Riviera Cancun has left us wanting to return.
It embodies everything a woman could possibly need to replenish self and soul. I look forward to building this relationship in the future and hope to invite YOU to join me.
