PowHERtalks National Speaker Series:  ask for impact

Lifestyle + Leadership Women’s Series comes to Calgary, October 2nd, 2016

PowHERhouse Performance Strategies launched the PowHERtalks National Speaker Series in October of 2015, a uniquely empowering, all-female lifestyle + leadership presentation series designed specifically to help committed, passionate women move their missions forward.  It provides a platform for sharing stories, publicly committing to personal and professional missions and the opportunity to ASK for what is needed next.  Directly focused on measured social impact and taking action to build stronger women, families and communities, both locally and globally, PowHERhouse is setting out to redefine women’s media in Canada and the positive impact it can make.

“In 2009 the Dalai Lama delivered a speech during the 2009 Peace Summit in which he said ‘The world will be saved by the western woman’.  I believe this to be true.  PowHERhouse is a social impact organization dedicated to this goal.  We celebrate Canadian women making an impact in sport, business, the arts and community leadership and provide solutions to keep them strong,” said PowHERhouse founder Charlene SanJenko, a successful entrepreneur and Town Councillor for Gibsons, BC. “We believe women learn from other women and are inspired to take action by experiencing positive role models who are making a difference. PowHERtalks provides an opportunity for a woman to publicly declare the impact she is ready to make and ask for what she needs to move her mission forward.”

Between October 2015 and January 2017, the PowHERtalks Speaker Series aims to connect 1,000+ women in six communities across Canada through an afternoon of creativity, confidence-building, inspiration and learning.  Many projects will be born throughout this inaugural tour, creating a possible ripple affect across the country of what is possible when you connect powHERful women and collaborate to take action.  Past PowHERtalks speakers include Aboriginal women, and the event will once again be opened with a special Indigenous cultural song and dance ceremony.

Invited guest speakers for PowHERtalks Calgary include:   Catherine Brownlee, Lee Malleau, Wendy Burton, Filomena May, Elaine Kupser, and Tracey Drake.  The final 12 PowHERtalkers have been selected from applications received.

PowHERtalks have been held to date in Nanaimo, Sechelt, Vancouver and Victoria with plans to expand to Toronto in January 2017.
