PowHERhouse Tea | Sharing Our Vision

Connecting with PowHERful women over tea.

What a pleasure to welcome 30 fabulous women for tea.  Incredible.  Absolutely incredible.

PowHERhouse TeaThe first-ever PowHERhouse Tea took place on June 10th at The University Women’s Club of Vancouver at Hycroft.  Surrounded by a breath-taking venue, guests were welcomed by singer/songwriter, Susan Ssun, and served a refreshing glass of ginger kombucha made locally by 1902 Tea & Kombucha.

A diverse cross-section of powHERful women making an impact, both locally and globally gathered to celebrate and make new connections, enjoy meaningful conversation, and delight in delicious treats catered by Lauren Paton, The Whole Lifestyle.  PowHERhouse Tea is an opportunity that encourages VIP’s from business, government, and sport to connect in a more intimate setting and learn more about each and the PowHERhouse vision.

MLA Melanie Mark opened the event with a short keynote followed by short presentations by those women featured in our Spring 2016 issue of PowHERhouse magazine in special feature interviews called PowHERhouse Portraits.  These women included:  Madeleine Shaw & Suzanne Siemens, Lunapads, G Day & Lunagals, Loretta Cella, Leaders for Humanity & Passion to Lead, Cleta Brown, University Women’s Club of Vancouver, and Dr. Lois Nahirney with an update on the BC Women’s Economic Forum 2016 and the We For She event on October 14th.

This afternoon also allowed for an opportunity to share the media Pillars of PowHERhouse – our lifestyle & leadership website + magazine, PowHER TV, and PowHERtalks events – the vehicles we use to show up in the world and take action on the work that is critically important to us, building strong women across Canada.

Here’s a recap of the future vision of PowHERhouse – why we do what we do – and where we’re going from here:

  • PowHERhouse TeaIMAGINE: Imagine an open-source media platform, infrastructure allowing clear and open communication at a grass roots level amongst Canada’s most powerful women in sport, business, the arts and community leadership, regardless of which women’s group, organization, association, industry or sector we belong to.
  • IMAGINE the connection, conversation & collaboration of this powHERful cross-section of women as we discuss the issues – social, environmental and economic – that affect our daily lives. PowHERhouse seeks to bring awareness to these issues through the inspiring stories of Canadian women – positive role models – who are creating solutions and making an impact to manage these issues. Can you easily think of 3 well-known Canadian female role models?  We want to change that!
  • IMAGINE: Imagine  100,000+ like-minded Canadian women, supporters strategically built over the next 7 years – leaders, decision-makers, innovators, action-takers, doers.
  • IMAGINE: Imagine the powHER of positive change made possible as we collectively rally and roar – advocating for women as, when, and how most needed.  Our greatest powHER comes as we unite.
  • IMAGINE: Imagine the impact, strengthening our families, communities and our future as we work together to up-level the role of women’s media in Canadian and the impact we know it can make.

It’s something that we imagine every day.

Women are stepping up, realizing we are who we’ve been waiting for.

Watch for upcoming announcements for a pop-up PowHERhouse Tea coming to your community!
