According to Dictionary.com, the word inspiration can be defined as “a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul,” and my personal opinion is that there couldn’t be a better definition out there. I believe that inspiration truly is everywhere; with every personal encounter that we experience during the day, we are gifted not only with the opportunity to learn and be inspired, but we also have the opportunity to inspire everyone that we interact with. I have often said to my daughter that everyone, whether we like and respect them or not, inspires us – in my experience, people either inspire us to be more like them, or they inspire us to be less like them – either way, I view these opportunities for learning as a divine gift.
Journaling can help us define the kind of person that we wish to be; each of us is beautifully imperfect, and we all have qualities that we want to improve in ourselves, as well as qualities that we want others to remember us for. One of the most beautiful gifts that a regular journaling practice can offer us, is the gift of direction; using journaling as a tool, we can decide what parts of ourselves we want to improve or change, as well as how we want to implement our decisions. With that in mind, why not use the following journaling prompt to discover more about how we can both inspire and be inspired every day?
Who is it that most inspires you, and why? How do you wish to inspire others during your daily interactions?
