Meet Lara Murphy, Co-Founder of Ryan Murphy Construction and PowHERpanel guest on April 14, 1-2 pm at the Calgary Woman’s Show.
Lara started her first construction business in New Brunswick at 16, advertising by handing out flyers door to door. She remembers being proud that she could fit two lawn mowers in the trunk of her car! During her studies at Mount Allison University, she had the opportunity to run several additional businesses within the construction industry. Travelling internationally while playing soccer magnified her love of architecture, and Lara formed Fresco, a heritage restoration firm. After moving to Alberta, her entrepreneurial spirit again led her to launch her own construction company, All Seasons. It was during this time, in 2007, that Karen and Lara met on a commercial work site.
In 2008, Lara co-founded Ryan Murphy Construction Inc. with business partner, Karen Ryan. It is Calgary’s only Commercial Construction firm owned by two women. Since that time, RMC has grown to work nationwide. With a diverse portfolio, including clients such as the Sheraton Hotel, UNDRCARD Boxing Studio, Telus Spark, Ralph Lauren, Junction 9 Yoga, Village Ice Cream, Soul Cycle and The Vin Room.
