This smoothie is great after a tough workout to help the body naturally begin to reduce inflammation and decrease recovery time. Its also great for people who are feeling any kind of infammation or joint pain. The chlorophyll in the greens and hemp seeds work with the anti-inflammatory effects of the pineapple, ginger, lemon and turmeric for a potent and delicious smoothie.
1 small handful kale or other greens like collards, swiss chard, spinach
1/2 cup pineapple, cut into chunks
1/4 inch chunk of fresh ginger
2-3 Tablespoons Hemp Seeds (Hearts)
1 Tablespoon ground or whole Chia Seed
1/4 Lemon (with skin if using organic – otherwise just the juice)
1 cup Water
1 Banana (fresh or frozen)
1/4 tsp ground turmeric or 1/4 inch chunk fresh turmeric
Add to a blender and blend until smooth. Serves 1
