Collaborative Changemaking Amplification Ecosystem
THE VISION: PowHERhouse is in the early-stage pre-production/development process for a documentary called 'The Story of Us' that will shine a light on changemakers across Turtle Island, giving their change a voice over the next nine years.
PowHERhouse is called to produce a 9-minute short documentary each year, for nine years, leading up to the production of the full-length documentary ‘The Story of Us’ in 2030. We have begun to gather with Indigenous and non-Indigenous award-winning filmmakers, extending personal invitations to co-create on this project and establish the Turtle Island Creative Impact Coalition to aid in leveraged coordination, communication, and funding efforts for creatives as alternative avenues in funding, distribution, and marketing films in the future is explored.
There is an opportunity for us to start production now, telling our story as it unfolds in real-time, tracking our changemaking impact, and recording our leadership legacy over this time period, rather than waiting until 2030.
THE INTENTION: To build a collaborative digital distribution and amplification ecosystem across Turtle Island.
Alongside this creative initiative, our intention is to deliberately weave with Indigenous and non-Indigenous changemaking organizations across Turtle Island to build a collaborative digital distribution ecosystem that amplifies changemakers, opens access to local and global audiences, and accelerates impact.
This well-aligned, alternative distribution channel would allow ecosystem partners to build their collective audience and reach at an exponential rate by braiding-for-impact to build energy, increase efficiencies, and fuel cohesive-building momentum between changemaking organizations, more effectively supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous creators and artists of impact now and in the future.
CREATIVE COLLABORATION
Each ecosystem partner would identify an internal storytelling liaison who would work closely with the PowHERhouse team to share the changemaking narrative of their organization each season/quarter.
- Rather than simply 'reporting' on events or initiatives, we encourage our partners to tell the story of their changemaking legacy as we watch it unfold, collectively.
- Using small pieces of impact media, PowHERhouse will create an online magazine, that allows the pieces from each organization to be integrated and uniquely showcased in one collaborative space.
- From there, it is available as an impact media magazine for each organization to share with their already existing communities and beyond, co-creating compounding amplification for the ecosystem of changemaking organizations simultaneously.
- This is a new initiative, which means that we will be starting fresh in this space and building our collective audience collaboratively.
As an ecosystem of changemakers, part of the invitation is to weave together in the process and journey of building this Collaborative Changemaking Amplification Ecosystem. This magazine will be a source for the content of each annual short documentary leading up to 2030 as outlined above.
As a founding partner in this initiative, we would ask that your organization contribute in our launch by submitting the specific pieces of multi-media listed below:
- One 3-minute video
- One 1-minute audio clip
- One 500 word piece of writing
The invitation is to join us in the initiative over the next nine years, as a minimum contribution we would ask that you commit to at least four seasons/quarters. At the end of your annual contribution, your organization will be able to track the impact over the one-year period and can then look forward to being featured in a short 9-minute documentary to build on the collective amplification of your changemaking work.
FUNDING SUPPORT AND SECTORAL DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIPS
As the impact media producer of this project, PowHERhouse is engaging funders, brand partners, and corporate organizations to participate in this documentary through their financial support of its production, distribution support through their networks, and cooperative awareness-building campaigns as we move forward.
- A member of the PowHERhouse team may ask you for a Letter of Support to accompany our funding applications.
- We encourage you to speak of your commitment and involvement, and our team would be happy to provide sample communications to share with your network and stakeholders.
- We see this project being a tangible step towards reconciliation in action. If you would like to present to your Board or stakeholders about this project, our impact media producer and founder would be pleased to support.

We have the opportunity over the next nine years to do things differently, harnessing the power of media to celebrate the work that is being done, amplify hope and possibility, and shift the narrative to lift society's future as the ancestors that future generations will be truly grateful for. For all our relations.
