Day 1 – August 21st, 2014

Poolside and beach-walk ready in my FIRMA tank.
Arrived to Puerto Morelos today – very excited, very hot. It’s almost time to go to bed, and it is still 28 degrees (feels like 40). Let’s just say we’re putting the ‘cooling affect’ of my FIRMA to the test over the next while. We spent the day getting settled, getting groceries and getting acquainted with our private little pool – likely my favourite feature!
In terms of my 30-Day Firm-Up Challenge, today was about setting the foundation – ensuring I have the food that I need to eat well (read: not diet or deprive but eat well) and deciding my plan of attack for staying active and training effectively while I have more breathing space in my schedule while at the same time honouring the fact that this IS our vacation and ensuring there is plenty of room for rest, fun and downtime.
I know where I want to get to in the next 30 days, and it will be possible with an effective combination of running, weight-training, yoga, clean-eating, rest and the tools that I need ~ including my FIRMA wear. We’ve got the Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon coming up the end of October so I want to be ready for that. I also have a busy Fall schedule and want to feel strong, grounded and positive for that (re: on top of my game). Sounds like this intentional 30 days is just what the Doctor ordered! Today we enjoyed some moderate cardio with a beach walk and some delicious black bean home-made burritos for dinner. I managed to stay clear of the chips ‘n salsa (saving those for the weekend). Tomorrow our training begins after a good night’s sleep. Those West Jet seats just don’t cut it.
